Engaging in meditation techniques is a great way to reduce stress and train your body and mind to relax. In addition, these exercises can help increase your self esteem and self confidence. Most significantly, however, similar to other kinds of exercise, they can be of great value in maintaining good health and fitness. And they don’t have to be difficult. There are a number of different kinds of easy meditation exercises that you could try out.

A favorite easy meditation exercise of many people is known as walking meditation. All it involves is taking a walk in a peaceful area while concentrating your thoughts on a specific point of interest. Start by planning a path or route for your walk. The first time out, just walk normally so that you become familiar with the route.

Once you are well acquainted with your path, start taking some deep, slow breaths and releasing them slowly. While breathing, become aware of your entire body. Walk slowly, and as you are moving think about each part of your body and how it contributes to moving you forward. Don’t be critical, just pay attention. As with any kind of meditation, you don’t want to rush the experience. Take your time, and learn to become comfortable with the routine.

Particularly in the beginning, there will probably be a lot of distractions that you have to deal with. You might feel self conscious, or you might have trouble keeping your mind away from your task list. When thoughts like this come up, simply put a stop to them and go back to your focus of concentration. Try doing this easy meditation exercise for ten or fifteen minutes to give yourself a break in your day.

Here’s another easy meditation exercise that you might want to try. First of all, find a picture or painting that brings you pleasure. Next, find a place to sit where you can be comfortable and won’t be disturbed. Position your picture in front of you where you get a good view without straining your neck or your eyes. Now close your eyes. Focus on your breathing. Inhale through your nose, and exhale through your mouth. Be aware of your body as the air moves in and out of your lungs. Establish a tempo to your breathing. After a few minutes, your body will start to relax.

Now open your eyes and gaze at your picture. Take note of the colors, the background, and any unusual and interesting details. Try to memorize it, then shut your eyes again. Now try to recreate the picture in your mind and visualize yourself becoming part of it. Actually put yourself in the picture. Wander around inside it and see what the various components look like up close.

These easy meditation techniques will do wonders for your ability to focus and concentrate.
