Meditation for Beginners: Simple Ways To Start Meditation

Whatever you do for the first time, you’re a beginner and meditation is no exception. If you’re just starting to meditate, here are some useful tips.

1. Don’t panic about whether you’re meditating “right” or not

If you do your best to do the things you’re asked to do for your meditating then there’s a high chance you’re meditating correctly. A principal focus of meditation is to assist you to relax. So don’t spend time worrying about whether or not you’re meditating correctly! There’s a very high likelihood that all is well with your technique. And if that isn’t the case and you messed up slightly, really, who cares? It’s not as though you’ve just completed an examination. Chill and enjoy the experience.

2. Experiment with different meditation methods

All of us are different. In turn that means not everybody will use the same meditation technique as everyone else. It’s quite possible that if your aim is different, another method could work better. Most of the time, I’ll listen to a binaural beats meditation because that’s the fastest way I’ve found to reach a deep meditation state and I have to do almost nothing. You could say that I’m being lazy doing that. But if I want to work on healing a part of my body – possibly my legs are aching – then I’ll use a guided meditation. And if I want to manifest abundance into my life, I’ll probably play a Cosmic Ordering track. So don’t get stuck in a rut. Find out what suits your own personal needs.

3. Make a habit out of meditation

Most people agree that it takes a minimum of a fortnight of regular “whatever” before it becomes a habit. So if you’re serious about meditating, commit yourself that you’re going to meditate on a daily basis for at least 14 days. Choose a time slot that’s usually available in your life. A lot of people meditate as soon as they wake up because everything else that happens in the day doesn’t get a chance to get in the way. Other people just pick a good time of day and go with it – maybe while their partner is watching the news on television.

Whichever meditation technique you decide and the time of day you choose to use it, it’s important to start! Otherwise you’ll never know how much you can benefit from regular meditation.
